Harriet Backer, 1902Fine art reproduction on 200gsm matte paper. A5 to A1, plus 12x16, 18x24 and 24x36 inches.Light falls into a quiet, book-lined room in Norway. Harriet Backer painted the rooms where people lived and read.
Harriet Backer painted Thorvald Boeck's Library in 1902. The room belonged to the Norwegian book collector Thorvald Boeck, and Backer painted it with the care she gave to every interior: the light, the shelves, the stillness of a room made for reading.
Backer trained in Paris and became one of Norway's most important painters. The original hangs in the National Museum in Oslo.
The look
